6 EASY STEPS FOR HOLDING A LOCAL QUALIFYING EVENT

Step 1. Select a host golf course facility

Most college and universities like yours have an affiliated golf course in close proximity to your school. These or any area 18-hole course would be an acceptable host venue for a qualifying tournament. Because your goal is to raise as much money as possible for your alumni fund, additional proximity contests are recommended for the local qualifying tournaments.

Step 2. Determine Tournament Format

Adopt existing event format-Adapt event to Best Ball (net) format. 4 person scramble or best ball formats are the most popular for fundraising golf tournaments. The PGA Professional at the selected host golf course can assist you with creating a proper format for your qualifying tournament.

The format for the National Championship at Pinehurst will be 2 best balls (net) of the foursome on each hole. Each team participant must have a USGA handicap index to participate in the National Championship and handicap indexes will be verified with the participant’s home golf course.

Step 3. Register Tournament Participants

You must have a minimum of 72 players.
